Chaerestrate

Chaerestrate, was the mother of Epicurus and presumably also that of Epicurus' three brothers.

The profession attributed to her by an infamous rumor was that of a fortune-teller and excorcist, with Epicurus present as a boy helping his mother. No reliable details of Chaerestrate's life are known.
